PJFC Round 4 Club Update

18 May 2019 by PJFC Secretary (Amy Yacoub)

The season is now in full swing; and with the grading rounds complete most of us have settled into the football routine as the days grow noticeably shorter and colder.

- Welcome to all of the new players and families joining our club this year, which leads me to remind everyone…
Our second PSE of the season is on this Sunday evening and we hope to see lots of families join us in the renovated Pitcher Park club rooms. Full details are on the events page in Team App.

- We have nearly 340 players registered in 16 teams in 2019, which is a fantastic result. The majority of our boys teams are at capacity and our girls numbers continue to grow exponentially.

- We have grown considerably over the past few years and are no longer a small club, but we are working hard to preserve the small cub feel and want to maintain a warm and friendly environment for our members.

- A big thanks to the 70 or so volunteers (Coaches, Coordinators, Team Managers, Trainers and Committee members) that are giving up their time each week to enable our teams to take the field. We thank you for your commitment.

- Whilst the volunteer support we receive is fantastic we still need more volunteers to help keep the club running smoothly. We have two roles to fill (Social Event Coordinator and Grounds Manager) so if you can spare any time, even as little as 1-2 hours per month, then please contact our Vice President Nik Devidas (vp@pjfc.com.au)

- Thanks also to the parents who supported the recent Bunnings BBQ fundraiser. As a result of your generous support we managed to raise about $1,500 for the club.

- With the completion of our new change rooms we are now able to schedule boys and girls football together at Pitcher Park! In case you are wondering how we will allocate the rooms….Parkside teams have priority to the new change rooms and the old away rooms will generally be allocated to the away team. But most importantly the rooms are allocated so that boys and girls teams don’t end up sharing a change room.

- The Yarra Magpies Academy announced the 2019 Under 14 & Under 15 boys and girls representative squads this week. We would like to congratulate the following Parkside players who have made the squads to play in the AFL Victoria Metro Junior Development Series: Hugo Byron, Kobe Knight, Sienna Martinez, Teha McMahon-Normand, Simone Mooney, Georgia Sands, and Rylie Wilcox.

Finally the committee would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our players and spectators on the way they have conducted themselves so far this season – with no incidents to report – it certainly makes life easier for the committee. Keep up the good work…

Regards,
PJFC Committee
